Camporee

Camporee is an annual event where Pathfinder clubs retreat from the everyday bustle of Brooklyn life, trading in noisy streets for peaceful green fields and the camaraderie of their fellow club members. On these secluded campgrounds, Pathfinders are instructed in wilderness survival skills, learn to appreciate the presence of God through nature, and live off a diet of clean, healthy food that they themselves have a hand in choosing and preparing.

Different campgrounds are used each year, each with their own level of facilities offered, so be sure to check with your Club Director to see what equipment and supplies you’ll need to bring along for you and your club. Prepare carefully, you wouldn’t want to find out too late that you need to pack toilet paper!

Speaking of preparation, be sure to participate in your club’s pre-camporee meetings both to make sure that the club’s camp equipment is in good order, and that everyone knows how to use it. We can’t control the weather, but should rain start to fall before you pitch camp, things will go a lot smoother if everyone already knows their role and how to set up your club’s tents
